Privacy policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
This policy explains what information Chorely collects, what we use it for, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Chorely mobile app and to this website. As an individual operation based in Ireland, we process your data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who processes your data
Chorely is operated by Giovanni Molina, a natural person domiciled in Ireland, who acts as the data controller for your data ("we", "us", "Chorely"). You can contact us at[email protected] with any question about this policy.
What we collect
- Account: name, email, and an optional profile picture.
- Home data: the home you create or join, its members, and the invite code.
- Chores: the chores members of a home create, assign, and complete, including dates and points.
- Notifications: your device token so we can send you push reminders, and the language you want to receive them in.
- Basic app usage: limited technical information (device type, app version) so we can detect and fix bugs.
Legal basis for processing
- Performance of a contract: account, home, and chore data are necessary to provide the service you request by using the app.
- Legitimate interest: basic technical diagnostics (device type, app version), to keep Chorely running securely and reliably.
- Consent: the notification language you choose, and any optional data you decide to provide, like a profile picture.
What we use it for
We use this information only to run Chorely: showing your home's chores, calculating the ranking, sending reminders, and helping you when you reach out. We do not sell your data, do not use it for third-party advertising, and do not build profiles for purposes unrelated to the app.
Who we share data with
Your data is visible to the other members of your home, since that is the whole point of the app. We also use a small number of providers that process data on our behalf, under our instructions and confidentiality agreements, never for their own purposes:
- Hosting and infrastructure: we host the database and servers within the European Union.
- Push notification delivery: we use Apple's (and, where applicable, Google's) notification services, which may process your device token outside the European Economic Area.
International transfers
Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area (for example, push notification services based in the United States), we rely on the safeguards required by the GDPR for such transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information and chore history within a reasonable period, except what we're legally required to retain for longer.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Request restriction of, or object to, certain processing.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured format.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on it.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as Ireland's Data Protection Commission, or your own country's data protection authority.
You can exercise these rights by writing to[email protected], or by deleting your account directly from the app's settings.
Security and data breaches
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (encryption in transit, restricted infrastructure access, among others). No system is completely infallible. If an incident affecting your data occurs that we are legally required to report, we will notify you, along with the relevant authorities, as soon as reasonably possible.
Children
Chorely is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under that age.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you inside the app before they take effect.
